Inspired by reality, Margaux Roy celebrates the details of everyday life through portraits, still lives, and landscapes, using photography and video.
With an attitude that pretends to be distant and naïve, she explores the range of emotions that can pass through us in the most straightforward situations of everyday life. Through short stories with a cheerful tone, Margaux creates films that evoke personal and sensitive subjects, such as the experience of a breakup as seen through objects, the anticipation of an event in a life of confinement, or the objectification of the female body.
More of Margaux's work may be found on her website, from where she may be contacted, and on her IG account.

How do our everyday objects experience our romantic breakups?
L'attente (est-ce fini ?)
In March 2020, we entered into confinement for several months. Since then, social distancing measures and protective barriers have disrupted our interpersonal relationships and perception of time. Love, nourishment, sleep, and dancing are experienced in a new temporality governed by slowness and waiting.

Ried de spécial
This is part of a video project started in 2016 with Gabrielle.
On a hot day in August 2016, we randomly shot a video under a bridge on Chevaleret Street in the 13th arrondissement of Paris to seek shelter from the sun. The soundtrack captures the sounds of the street, passersby, residents, workers, and the changing neighborhood undergoing demolition and construction.
2016: The first year of capturing the street's residents.
2017: A food truck appears, and the adjacent building is demolished.
2019: Gabrielle becomes pregnant, and the construction work stops.
2021: Gabrielle is joined by Raphaëlle, her daughter. We filmed the video in the morning because Raphaëlle needed to nap in the afternoon. The lighting is different from previous years.
2022: Raphaëlle wants her mom all to herself.
