Born in 1979 in Charleroi (Belgium), Kristel Brusadelli lives and works in the province of Namur.
After studying Romance philology and ethics (Hoover Chair, UCL), she taught mainly in adult education for several years. She then turned to the field of visual arts by working on exhibition scenography (painting, drawing, video, installations, etc.) and writing monographs. She then taught French as a foreign language to a group of adult newcomers and French in an institutional pedagogy school (Alter-Ecole de Clavier).
She initially worked on photography as a self-taught photographer during her travels and then studied for a year at the Academy of Fine Arts in Namur. Since 2016, her work has been exhibited in Belgium and abroad (Bulgaria, Italy). She is part of the Aspëkt collective dedicated to photographic, plastic, audiovisual and sound languages ().
Polaroid is one of her favorite media and is considered as a receptacle: "a container that receives its content from various sources". She enjoys diverting it from its instantaneous aspect: there is a whole preparatory work that precedes the shot. The polaroid thus receives its content, the portrait, from the superposition of multiple faces. For her, the mechanics of the camera, the sound emitted, the unique object, the emulsion... makes the polaroid a true "body". It reacts, it vibrates. In her approach, the physical dimension is important: the portrait is treated with and by the body.
